Gary Allen Baumgarten

Gary Allen Baumgarten, 86, of Dunlap, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Carle Health Proctor Hospital. Born in Stewardson, IL, on July 17, 1940, he was the son of the late Everett and Izola (Stierwalt) Baumgarten. Gary married Patricia Schrock in 1960. He later married Vicki Thomas in 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Baumgarten; three sons, Brice, Darrin (Jeanette), both of Peoria, Dallan (Traci) of Chandler, AZ; step daughter, Tanya Thomas, of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Jade (Steve) Wilkerson, Connor (Megan) Baumgarten, Caden Baumgarten, Brendan Baumgarten, Halen Baumgarten, and Aria Baumgarten; three great grandchildren, Isabella Baumgarten, Lily Baumgarten and Silas Baumgarten; niece, Karen (Doug) Thies; and a nephew, Scot Wirth. He is further survived by great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Gary began his career as a partner at McGladrey, Hanson, & Dunn. He then went on to own and operate Baumgarten Distributing Company, Inc.

Active in many groups, Gary was a member of the Elk's Club, MHCC, PPGCC, Downtown Kiwanis, Illinois Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of CPA's, the National Beer Wholesalers of America, Arrowhead Country Club, and was a sponsor Sunday Morning League in Peoria. He was an avid Cardinal's fan.

Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Peoria United Methodist Church, TAPS/PAWS, or a charity of your choosing. Condolences and memories may be shared through Woolsey-Wilton.com
