Dear Charlene and Family,
I write this with a broken heart.  Rusty meant the world to me. My Dad always had comfort knowing the both of you were always there for me. My Dad and Rusty had so much in common as they both were into concrete!  I have a special poem for my best friend.  
That Fateful Day
I can't forget that fateful day, you had to leave, you went away, a sadness filled me up inside, emotions that I could not hide.
Tears, they came, sadness too.
All of my emotions just for you.  Time will heal, so I was told, but this will never fill this hole.
Here in my heart there is a place,  your always there, keeping me safe.
It's filled with Love and Happy times,  it's never dark, your light it shines on.
In Heaven now you do reside to watch over me with Love and Pride.
I know one day we'll meet again, until we do just know how much I love and miss you and your always with me...ALWAYS..

You know you are in my thoughts at this time of grief.  Wish I could have a cup of coffee with you after a big bear hug.  Please keep the good memories.  and your great sense of humor.  Can't imagine what you are going through.  Keep smiling even if through tears.

Charlene and family, I think I knew Gary and brothers Larry and Bob. Rusterholtz is not a very common name but if the boys lived in Washington, Il. when they were young we were good friends, I would like to hear from Larry I am in the phone book in Washington. Sorry for your loss and I don't mean to be a pest.

Charlene, Steve and I are so sorry for your loss. Rusty was a good man, a great husband to you and a very loving father. I remember he used to come into the jewelry store and he would talk "fish" with Steve. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Debbie and family.

Rusty was a long time neighbor but I really got to know him best in the last year or so as we attended Mass together most Sundays.  I was so impressed with him as he bravely faced his own demise. He spoke about, and worked on, things that needed to be done around the house as he lovingly wanted to leave matters in order for the sake of Charlene. It was touching. We can all learn things from others and I know that I learned from knowing him.

I will always have fond memories of Rusty. I can see both Joe and Rusty sitting at our dining room table,drinking coffee and trying to solve the worlds problems.I wonder...are they doing that again? Hang in there Charlene..thats all you can do.

Deepest sympathy to Charlene and family from all the Ruppman cronies who share dinners and fun with Charlene and Nephew Steve .We know Rusty through them and send love and support .

Since our family left Peoria in the 1950's I never had the priviledge of knowing Rusty that well. He was a quiet loving man that always displayed his warmth and friendship whenever we visited him and Charlene. 
Knowing his love of fishing on the Illinois River was the great love of his life after his wife, Family and his beloved Boys Town.
The freezer at the Rusterholz Family will never be the same without a mess of catfish Rusty provided each year.

I will always remember Rusty in his camo attire sitting on the rock in his front yard waiting for me to hand him the mail around 2PM each day in milder weather.
We always had a good laugh about one thing or another, usually at the hidden expense of our wives knowledge.  I retired the same week I last saw him at Panera's and will miss his friendship.  Ed Schraeder, Mail Carrier
