Geneva Harper, 96, of Peoria, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Unity Point\Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She was born on April 15, 1919 in Thawville, Illinois to George and Leola (Norvell) Althaus. She married Herman P. Harper on March 30, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1997 in Peoria, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Koester.
She is survived by one sister, Patricia (Dean) Mandler of Roseville, California; four nephews, Greg Mandler, Mark Koester, Lee Louret and John G. Harper.
Geneva first worked at the Clark Department Store for several years, she later went to R. G. LeTourneau which later became WABCO and Komatsu Mining, where she worked 42 years retiring in 1982. She was a graduate of the Illinois Central Business College in Champaign, Illinois and was a member of the National Association of Accounting. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Thawville, Illinois and attended the former Parkview United Church of Christ in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
