George L. Schafer, Jr. age 48, of Peoria Heights, passed away Saturday Oct. 11, 2014 at 12:42 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born May 12, 1966 in Peoria to George L. and Shirley (Stewart) Schafer, Sr. He married Diann Franklin Oct. 20, 1984 in Peoria. She survives along with his parents of West Peoria, one daughter, Sarah Schafer of Naples, FL, two sons: George L. Schafer III of Peoria Heights, David (Jazmin) Schafer of Peoria, three granddaughters: Aaliyah, Jersey, Ava Mae, and one sister, Denise (Bill) Helmantoler of Mackinaw, one nephew, James and one niece, Breanna. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Louis and Daisy Schafer and Virginia and Dick Lloyd. George was currently working at Marcone Supply Center in Peoria. He was an avid Indy Car Racing and Green Bay Packers fan. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors with his family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday Oct. 15, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
