

He was born Oct. 19, 1935 in Ottumwa, IA to Carl A. and Jessie (Everett) Simpson. He married Carol Sheaffer on Oct. 28, 1961 in Peoria. She survives along with four children: Beth (Doug) Camp of Bartlett, TX, Carol (Jim) Goewey of Spring Bay, George “Jason” Simpson, Jr of Missoula, MT, Amy (Allen) Lee of Creve Coeur, one daughter-in-law, Aletha Simpson of Copperas Cove, TX, eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Sgt. Mark Simpson, two grandsons: Mark Simpson, Jr and D.J. Camp, and nine brothers and sisters.
George was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War. He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 42 years retiring in 1992. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed bowling on several leagues at the Peoria Christian Center. He was a member of El Vista Baptist Church, where he was a head usher and Deacon.
Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the El Vista Baptist Church in Peoria. Rev. Joey Watt will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Church. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
