George Lee Spani

George Lee Spani, of Trivoli, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 87.

George was born on August 8, 1938, in Benton, Illinois, to Joseph and Lena (Gibbs) Spani. Raised with the values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance, he carried those qualities throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Following his military service, George built a successful career as the owner of Peoria Drapery Service, earning the respect of customers and friends alike.

While George worked hard, he embraced life with equal enthusiasm. He had an adventurous spirit and a gift for finding joy in everyday moments. Whether he was skiing down a mountain, casting a fishing line into a quiet lake, preparing a meal for family and friends, cheering on the Chicago Bears, or escaping to the warmth and sunshine of Mexico, George lived fully and encouraged others to do the same. He loved good conversation, good drink, and good company, and his easy smile and sense of humor made him someone people naturally enjoyed being around.

In 1985, George married the love of his life, Judith (Ladgenski) Spani. Together they shared nearly four decades of marriage filled with companionship, laughter and travel. Judith preceded him in death in 2024, and while her passing left an immeasurable void, George carried her memory with him every day. It is comforting to imagine them reunited once again.

George is survived by his many nieces and nephews, who will remember him with affection for his warmth and life. He leaves behind countless people whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.

George’s life was a reminder that happiness is often found in simple pleasures—a day on the water, drinks raised high,, the excitement of a football game, a new adventure, or time spent with those you love. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for how he made people feel: welcome, valued, and ready to enjoy life a little more.
