Harold Eugene Stark

Harold Eugene Stark, 94, of West Peoria, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his home. Born in Reynoldsville, IL, on September 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Roy and Nancy (Hammer) Stark. On January 16, 1954, he married Ermajean “Jean” Phillips in Carbondale. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2023.

Survivors include his children, Pat (Mike) Brown, Larry (Peggy) Stark, and Mary (Bob) McGarrah; grandchildren, Tom (George) Stark, Jacob (Michelle) Stark, Roy (Jamie) McGarrah, Mike (Layna) Stark, Andrew (Nikki) Brown, Tricia (Rachel) McGarrah, Steve Stark, Bess Brown, Chelsea (Brad) Zychowski, and Chris (Megan) Stark; and great-grandchildren, Braxton, Ethan, Adelyn, Sophia, Bruce, Penny, Gemma, Ellie-May, Cora, and Lincoln. Aside from his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ben; and his brothers, Avon, Charles, and Roy. He goes to meet them and God. He wants to greet us there, too.

Harold served in the US Air Force in weather services. Following his honorable discharge, he began working as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service and retired in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking and going on annual mission trips with Woodland Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and the Treasurer for several years at WBC as well as he and Mom teaching an Idioms class and helping with the Red Cross Blood Drive. He will be remembered for his helping nature.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Woodland Baptist Church, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will take place on Monday, May 11, 2026, at church from 9:00 a. m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
