He was born May 20, 1943 in Peoria to Arthur and Edith (Daily) Bliss, Sr. He married Henrietta Roemer on Oct. 15, 1967 in Pottstown. She passed away Nov. 30, 2013 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Christina Bliss, and two sisters: Bernice Crail, and Darlene Dishman.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Bliss of Spring Bay, one son, Brian Bliss of Peoria, two granddaughters: Shauna Bliss of Peoria Heights, Alicia Fisk of Westville, IL, three brothers: Richard Bliss of Peoria, Arthur (Annabelle) Bliss of Fort Hudson, FL, Harold Bliss of Peoria, three sisters: Judy Gorley of Peoria, Phyllis Cotner of Olney, IL, Barbara Corvell of Richmond, IL, numerous nieces and nephews, and one very close family friend, John Farris of Peoria. Harvey loved spending time with his granddaughters and often told them how proud he was of them.
Harvey was a United States Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military he worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years retiring in the 1990’s.
He loved racing and spent many years at the Peoria Speedway working on cars. Harvey and his wife Henrietta were avid bowlers traveling all over the country for tournaments. He also enjoyed watching his close friends throw darts and attended many leagues and tournaments.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. A celebration of Harvey’s life will be at Shot Spot Pub at 118 Argentina Ave. in Bartonville following the services at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
