June 14, 1929 – September 5, 2020
Helen D. Rozario, 91, of Georgia, formerly of Peoria, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at her daughter’s home. She was born on June 14, 1929 Dacca, East Pakistan a daughter of Henry Alexander and Mary Francis (Cross) Lucas. She married Edmond Rozario on October 31, 1959 in Dacca, East Pakistan. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2002 in Peoria, Illinois. Also preceding her in death were her parents and 4 siblings. She is survived by her son, Rexie Lucas of Virginia; daughters, Melanie (Jim) Sydnor of Kansas City, Missouri, Lorraine (BP) Singh of Atlanta, Georgia and Linnette Perryman of Peoria, Illinois; grandchildren, Ryan Lucas, Rhia Singh, Andrew Singh, Dillon Garimella and Arnav Singh; great grandchildren, Angel Lucas and Anya Lucas; sister, Celine D’ Cruze, brother, Reginald Lucas; goddaughter, Sandra Lobo; and many nieces and nephews. Our beloved mother was a strong individual and could undertake any challenges for the betterment of her family. Whatever we are today is because of her; she made decisions and handled situations in a manner that made others humble. She has been a constant source of strength, courage and hard work. She sacrificed her needs for her family…. she would wake up early every day to take care of her family before she went to work. She worked as a private secretary for UNICEF before retirement; prior to that she was a nurse for the British army during World War II. She was a loving wife to her husband Edmund Rozario. She devoted all her time and attention to raising her children to become successful individuals and was proud of their accomplishments. She was a loving grandmother/great grandmother, to her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She faced challenges with a smile and never lost her fate in God. Her family and relatives enjoyed countless evenings socializing at her residence playing cards and boardgames. She was a loving gentle soul and always treated everyone with kindness, care, and respect. We love you mommy and there is no one like you and that places you on the top of the “Mother’s Hall Of Fame.”
