

He was born September 15, 1919 in McLoud, OK to George W. and Mary (Seaton) Morris. He married Minette Matthews on February 7, 1945 in Austin, TX. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter Gloria, his son Dwight, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Cynthia, six brothers and one sister.
He served during World War II as a navigator in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific where he earned the Air Medal. He retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Major.
He was founder and first Chairman of the Computer Science Department at Bradley University. He retired in 1992 after 27 years and was later named Professor Emeritus.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a long time member of the Sierra Club and hiked extensively in national parks throughout the country. He was also active in civic affairs.
A celebration of Herbert’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday July 23, 2012 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Cremation will be accorded. Burial of his ashes will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
