

Howard “Rich” was born on August 31, 1950 in Galesburg, Illinois to Harold and Lena (Slagel) Still. He graduated from Abingdon High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Illinois University, as well as several Associates Degrees.
He married Sharon Dyer, his long time partner of 24 years on February 15, 2026.
Rich attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria for many years.
Rich is survived by his loving wife Sharon, and two daughters: Kristen (Travis) Lipsman of Caledonia, Michigan, and Rachel (Paul) Walters of Riverton, Illinois. He is also survived by Sharon’s daughters; Summer (Doug) Wirth of Glen Ellyn, Illinois and Jessi (Kevin) Liuzzi of Georgetown, Texas.
Rich leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Parker and Madison Lipsman, Abigail and Allison Walters, Hadley Wirth, and Keagan, Harper and Bailey Luizzi.
He is also survived by three brothers: Jim (Bebe) of Cumming, Georgia, Gerry Still of Galesburg, Illinois, and Gale (Sheila) Still of Roseville, Illinois. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Patricia (Merle) Polson, and two sisters-in-law, Gayle (Dave) Little and Jennifer (Jeff) Jaques, all of Princeton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was a cat Dad to numerous furbabies over the years.
An Army Veteran, Rich was inducted into the United States Army in 1971 and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas as a Military Police Officer.
He was employed at Outboard Marina in Galesburg for 7 years, then 12 years at Maytag in Galesburg until their closure. He enjoyed the travel to many countries with his Maytag position. Rich relocated to Peoria and was employed at Caterpillar for 10 years until his retirement in 2015. After retirement, he worked part-time for several years at Menards and Home Depot in Peoria.
He led an active life, with a passion for golf, playing as much as possible. He and Sharon loved to travel, with Rich always having an itinerary planned after researching the best restaurants, wineries, and outlet malls. They cherished their annual beach and golf trips to North Carolina.
Besides golf, hobbies included fishing and boating, walking, running in earlier years, bicycling, watching Hallmark movies, and he was enjoying a fairly recent activity, Pickleball. In the past few years he taught himself to play the guitar. Rich took great pleasure in his beautiful lawn and could never pass Hoerr’s Nursery or any box store without coming home with a truck full of flowers and plants. He enjoyed spending time on his patio, he and Sharon’s happy place, and spending time with family and friends. A lot of fun times were shared golfing, fishing, traveling, and Mexican/margarita nights with their dear friends Steve and Dianne.
A funeral service for Rich will be Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. till time of service at 2 p.m. with burial at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Military honors will be accorded.
