Jack Mason

He was born March 23, 1927 in Vincennes, Indiana to Osborne and Margaret (Walker) Mason. He married Barbara Vanderpool on March 14, 1949. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2010 in Peoria.

Surviving are; three children, Michael Mason Sr., David Mason, and Susan Mason all of Peoria; one granddaughter, Sara Reents of Chicago; his brother-in-law, Bill Noack of Tremont and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Mason Jr.; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Jack served our country in WWII as a Navy veteran serving on the USS Sperry in the South Pacific.

After the war, Jack returned to work at Caterpillar, Inc where he completed a career as a crane operator after 39 years.

Jack was also a devoted Dodgers fan, following them from Brooklyn to LA. He was an avid NASCAR fan, rooting for Dale Earnhardt, Sr and Junior, respectively. He enjoyed yardwork, Sunday dinners with the family and trips to the Midway Duck Inn for fried catfish.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with the Rev. Melvin McAfee officiating. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Chapel.
