

James was born May 22, 1932 in Freeport, IL the son of Clyde & Irma Clement Rockow. He married Norma Jean Dixon on September 26, 1954 in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years; two daughters, Becky (Mitch) Bernstein of Chadds Ford, PA, and Wendy (Kris) Reitz of Columbia, IL; two sons, Gary (Tammy) Rockow of Peoria, and Steve (Sue) Rockow of Ferguson, MO; eight grandchildren, Allison Reitz, Nicholas Reitz, Benjamin Rockow, Ryan Rockow, Sarah Bernstein, Kelsey Bernstein, Justin Rockow, and Conner Rockow; one great-grandchild, Jaxon Rockow.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He served two years in the Air Force attaining the rank of Captain. Jim worked as a Professional Civil Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor in Peoria at Associated Engineers, Associated Engineers II and at Phillips Swager Associates. He retired in 1997.
Jim was a very active long time member of First Presbyterian Church and then United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity from Bradley University.
He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed golfing, family camping trips and fishing. He always had a positive attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. Jim was a loving husband, father, and was devoted to his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at United Presbyterian Church. Rev. Stephen McKinney-Whitaker will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home and an hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be made to United Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens at a later date.
