Peoria – James T. Thurmond, 70, of Peoria, IL passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Heartland Health Care in Peoria. He was born January 30, 1944 in Friendship, TN to Jesse and Wilma (Screws) Thurmond. James married Mary Noel on July 15, 1983 in Peoria, IL.
James was a veteran of the United State Air Force serving from 1962 to 1966. He retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service as a machinist in East Peoria.
Surviving are; his mother Wilma Thurmond of Friendship, TN, wife Mary Thurmond of Peoria, IL, daughter Stephanie Thornhill of Pekin, IL, step-sons; Carl Hess of Creve Coeur, IL and Marty (April) Kern III of Metamora, IL, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and his brother Kenny Thurmond of Friendship, TN. James was preceded in death by his father Jesse and his grandson Shea Hess.
Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded. Online tributes and condolences may be made at www.Davison-Fulton.com
