

James H. Turner, 77, of East Peoria, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was born July 11, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to John J. and Aline (Helmantoler) Turner. He married Katherine M. Carlson in Springfield, IL on December 4,1992. She survives. Also surviving are two step-children, Brian (Kimberley) Carlson of Brooklyn, NY, Barbara (Ray) Kalwajtys of Elmwood Park, IL, and their children, Veronica and Michael; and sister, Terri (Jerry) Belver of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and John Turner. James grew up in Bartonville and was in the first graduating class from Limestone High School in 1954; prior to that he attended Manual High School. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1958 with a BS in Education. He served 8 years in the US Naval Reserve and was a member of the Bartonville American Legion. He formerly coached Little League Baseball in Bartonville. He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville from 1958 until he retired in 1998. After retirement he and his wife spent winters in Winter Haven, Florida. He loved Harley Davidson’s and attended every TT race at the PMC race track for the last 65 years. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria where Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Church on Friday. Entombment will be at Parkview Cemetery Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
