She was born June 19, 1938 in Princeville, IL to John W. and Vivian (Kessler) Ginther. She grew up next to and married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Kent on Nov. 15, 1958 in Peoria. He passed away Feb. 18, 2007 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Julia Francis, and one twin sister, Judith Erickson.
Survivors include one son, Joseph (Annette) Kent of Milan, IL, one daughter, Jill (Michael) Richter of Kenosha, WI, nine grandchildren: Justin, Jared, Jason Francis, Elizabeth Willis, Robyn Diericks, Noah, Madison Owens, and Joseph and Kaylee Richter. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and two sisters: Katherine Houlihan of Peoria and Donna (Larry) Corney of Edelstein, IL.
Janet graduated from Woodruff High School then worked at the Caterpillar Credit Union before staying home and raising her family.
“Janet enjoyed her time as an Amethyst Alumni. She devoted every chance she had to spending with those she loved. She looked forward to shopping and trips to the casino most, but enjoyed any time she had with her family and friends.”
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Peoria Chapter.
