Jan’s strong lifelong faith in the Lord and love for Jesus led her to participate in mission trips to Mexico, serving communities in need. Early in Jan's life she worked as a substitute teacher for junior high and high schools in the Peoria area, and later as a clerk at JoAnn Fabrics until its closing, where she loved connecting with customers about their creative projects. She was also a talented nature photographer, capturing beauty in what she saw around her. Jan particularly cherished her role as a grandma, treasuring every moment spent with her grandchildren.
