Janis Rae Hauptly

She was born on September 9, 1935 in New Burnside, Illinois to Ernest and Clara (Baker) Blackburn. She married Charles W. Hauptly on August 30, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2019.

Also preceding Janis in death are her parents; sons, Stephen W. Hauptly and Mark D. Hauptly; and sister, Priscilla A. Mangan.

She is survived by her children, Sharon R. (Joel) Fugman, David R. (Debra C.) Hauptly; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Tallyn) Turnbow, Tiffany (James Salzman) Hauptly, and Michelle (Joe) Ferguson; and six great-grandchildren, Willow, Elias, Zoe, Kali, Ezra and Emry.

Janis was a lifetime member of Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards, Illinois. She loved to travel in her fifth wheel with her husband, often going somewhere south. She also enjoyed gardening, her flower beds, crosswords and other puzzles, and was an avid book reader. She could always be found with a book in her hands.

Janis' Graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 1pm.
