Jean Margaret Huber Athen

Jean Margaret Athen, 72, of Peoria, passed away at 10:02 pm on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

She was born on July 4, 1941 in Mountain Home, AR to Elwin Laroy and Donna (Allen) Huber. She married Arthur Athen on September 23, 1961; he preceded her in death on December 26, 2000. Her parents, one son, Arthur Steven Athen and one brother, Allen Huber also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one son, Robert (Monika) Athen of Peoria Heights, three daughters, Susan (Dan) Alwan of East Peoria, Michelle Athen of Peoria and Cheryl (Joe) Cody of Bellevue. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Robert Athen Jr, Hannah Athen and Jared Cody, one brother Charles Huber of MO and one sister, LaRita Woodson of Norwood.

Jean was a devoted wife, loving mother with strong family and Christian values. She was a longtime member St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria.

A funeral mass will be on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Father Terry Cassidy will officiate. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
