Jeffrey Day Seyller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, has lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service. Born on July 24, 1955, in Bloomington, Illinois, and died Tuesday, October 20, 2026 in Bettendorf, Iowa surrounded by his wife, Debbie and family.
Jeff's roots were nurtured by his loving parents, Kennard and Sally Seyller, who predeceased him. His life was a testament to the values they instilled in him—kindness, a great work ethic, love of God, and community spirit.
On May 28, 1989, Jeff married the love of his life, Deborah "Phipps" Seyller. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, welcoming their cherished children, Kassidy and Brandon, into the world with, later in life, son-in-law, Shane. Jeff's family was his pride and joy, and his grandchildren, Piper and Calvin, were the lights of his life. He treasured every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and nurturing their growth with lots of deep belly laughs and loving care.
A graduate of Bloomington High School in 1973, Jeff's athletic prowess was evident early on, as he held a school record in the 880-yard dash that stood unchallenged for over 35 years. His passion for sports continued to flourish as he pursued higher education at Illinois Wesleyan, graduating in 1977 with a degree in physical education. Jeff's love for Chicago sports, particularly the Cubs, was a lifelong affair, and he cherished witnessing their historic World Series victory in 2016.
Jeff devoted over two decades to his career as a wholesale food salesman, where his dedication and skill were recognized through numerous sales awards. His professional success was matched by his commitment to his community, most notably through his active membership at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria, Illinois. Jeff served in many capacities within the church and played a significant role on the school board of Concordia Lutheran School, contributing greatly to the school's building campaign.
Jeff's siblings, Mark (Vicki), David (Robin), and Greg (Cindy) Seyller, remember him fondly as a brother who was always there with a helping hand and a warm smile, and very competitive spirit. His genuine kindness and servant heart meant that he never met a stranger, establishing connections wherever he went and left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Jeff also loved his extended family and had a special relationship with his father-in-law, Albert Phipps, along with his sisters-in-law, Carrie (Ray) Harney, Angie (John) Burger, and Christy Arndt. He was very proud of his 19 nieces and nephews along with his 23 great nieces and nephews.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6801 N. Allen Rd., Peoria, IL 61614. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Chip Winter officiating.
The Seyller family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported Jeff throughout his life, especially during his cancer journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, or the charity of their choice, to honor Jeff's unwavering commitment to his faith and community.
Jeffrey Day Seyller's legacy is one of love, resilience, and service. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
