Jessie Kanzada Goewey

She was born in Jersey County, Illinois to Edwin and Nellie (Loy) Frank. Jessie married Stephen Goewey on November 23, 1947, he passed away December 9, 2017.

Jessie is also preceded by her parents, daughter-in-law, Nancy Goewey, brothers, Clinton, Joe, Bill and Art Frank; sisters, Wilma Rogers and Annie Cope and two infant grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Stephen (Paula) Goewey of Tipton, Indiana, Kenneth (Debra) Goewey of Chillicothe, Andy (Debra) Goewey of Pekin, James (Carol) Goewey of Spring Bay, Betty Goewey of Chillicothe, and Teresa (Mike) Gardner of Chillicothe; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mary Kuehnel of Godfrey, Nellie Barrett of Riverton, and Louis (Mary) Frank of Jerseyville.

Jessie found immense joy in raising her children, instilling in them values of compassion, hard work, and faith. She cherished every moment spent with her family, whether it was cooking, completing challenging puzzles, or engaging in friendly competition during game nights.

A devout Christian, Jessie's faith was an integral part of her life. She served the Lord with enthusiasm and humility, volunteering her time at the church nursery.

She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and siblings, all of whom were touched by her kindness and unwavering faith.

Funeral service will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe, visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Pastor Curtis Cochran will officiate. Burial will be held at Chillicothe City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jessie’s name to Calvary Baptist Academy, Chillicothe.
