Born August 4, 1947 in Oak Park, IL to James Phillip and Rose (Sciortino) Guarrine and they preceded him in death. He grew up in the Bellwood and Melrose Park communities near Chicago.
In 1975, he married the former Antoinette Fico in Melrose Park and they later moved to Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Antoinette Guarrine of Peoria; daughter, Jamie-Rose Guarrine and her husband, Karl Knapp of Amherst, MA; brothers, Greg (Rose) Guarrine and John (Anbern) Guarrine; sisters, Patrice (Bob) Prescott and Rosemary (Ken) Remus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
When you met Jim, two things were quickly noted: he had never met a stranger and he loved music. His outgoing nature made him perfectly suited for a career in sales and customer service. For over 25 years he was the manager of the Baker’s Shoe Stores in Peoria. During that time he also made many acquaintances through working at the former Stan’s Wines & Spirits.
For the last 14 years, Jim has served as a Funeral Assistant and Greeter at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. It was deeply meaningful for him to try and brighten someone’s day and ensure that they always had fresh coffee.
Throughout his life, his Catholic faith was his cornerstone. He loved to sing at church and shared many memories with his daughter Jamie-Rose when they would sing together with Antoinette at the organ.
Jim was very proud of his Italian heritage and volunteered often with the Italian-American Society. He also appreciated nature, whether working or sitting in his yard or on many hunting trips in his younger years.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Peoria where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 17, 2026 by Monsignor Jason A. Gray. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, August 16th at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with a Christian Wake Service at 3:00 PM.
