Joann Veray Gentry

Joann Veray Gentry, 89, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Heartis Village of Peoria. She was born on August 17, 1935 in Peoria, a daughter of Leslie Christian Grimm, Sr. and Ruth Margaret (Coon) Grimm.

Joann is survived by her three children, Jerry (Thena Poteat) Gentry of Festus, Missouri, Richard Gentry of Bolingbrook and Susan Gentry of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Robert Grimm, Allen Grimm and Leslie Grimm, Jr.

Joann graduated from Academy of Our Lady High School in Peoria, Class of 1953.

She worked alongside her parents at their family owned grocery stores in the Peoria area.

Joann attended Forrest Hill United Methodist Church in Peoria.

Joann's visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Her graveside service will take place at 12:30 pm also on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
