

John “Jack” William Wiedeman, 88, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born December 24,1923 in Peoria, to John and Anna (Borgwardt) Wiedeman. He married Dorothy Backus on April 3, 1948 in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife Dorothy of Peoria Heights, three children: Nancy (Urs) Kienberger of Switzerland, Karen (Pat) Hibbs and Jack Wiedeman both of Peoria; seven grandchildren: Kari (John), Patrick, Zachariah, Madison, Morgan, Hailey and Hannah; three great-grandchildren: Lauryn, Nataley and Karsyn; and one sister, Rosemarie Helms of Peoria Heights.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was one of the first occupying forces in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked as a Printer with International Paper for many years retiring in 1986. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #2 and was a former member of Glen Oak Christian Church both in Peoria. Jack will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The Rev. Mary Kathryn Pearce will officiate.
