Joseph R. Stowell Jr.

Joseph “Joe” R. Stowell, Jr. age 63 of Delavan, IL formerly of Peoria, passed away at 11:20 pm on Monday, September 4th, 2017, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. He was born on May 1, 1954 in Lincoln, IL to Joseph Sr. and Marilyn (Keys) Stowell. Joe is survived by his wife, Christine Stowell of Delavan, IL; parents, Joseph Sr. and Marilyn Stowell of Peoria, IL; three daughters, Jaima Galfi (Chris) of Bloomington; Jessica Henrichs (Jason) of Chicago; and Ali Stowell of Panama City; two step-sons, Joe Pesha of Manito; and Jon Pesha of Manito; three grandchildren, Riley Galfi, Reeve Galfi, and Harper Henrichs; and one ‘grand-pup,’ Lola Henrichs. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph “Joey” Stowell, III (1994). Over the years, he was a proud member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Galesburg Rotary, Children’s Hospital Advisory Board, Goodwill Peoria Board, Relay for Life Eureka, Eureka Rotary, Eureka Heart House Advisory Board, and Peoria North Rotary. He was also a St. Jude Memphis to Peoria runner, Lincoln to Peoria runner, and Lacon to Peoria runner. On his 50th birthday he ran a marathon with Christine to celebrate life and that he lived to be 50. Joe and Christine owned their own business, Strategic Financial Consulting. He started managing money in 1979 with Hornblower and Weeks and throughout his career his clients grew to become more like family. His fondest job of all was as grandpa and he will be greatly missed. Joe attended Loucks Grade School (1959-1966), Peoria Central (1972), and earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Bradley University (1976). Cremation rites have been accorded.
