Joseph Mark Symmonds

Joseph Mark Symmonds, 77, of Peoria, IL, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend — always generous with his time, his love, and his humor.

Before retiring, Joe was the proud owner of Mobile Graphics, where he earned the nickname “The Stripe Master” for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He was widely admired for his kindness, gentle smile, warm heart, and a sense of humor that made every group photo a chance for mischief — if he’d had more hands, everyone would’ve ended up with bunny ears.

Joe’s deep faith shaped his life, and he never shied away from a good argument about God. He was active in religious service for many years and served as a lay speaker at Madison Avenue Methodist Church, where he shared his passion and insight with sincerity and grace.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Joe found joy in hiking the trails of Forest Park Nature Center and other nearby parks with his beloved wife, Linda, and their little dog, Ritzy. He had a particular love for the American West — especially the Rocky Mountains and Longs Peak — places that brought him peace and awe.

Joe was a devoted caregiver to his parents and to others in times of need. His life was a quiet testament to compassion, faith, and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Betty Symmonds, and his nephews, Zachary Symmonds and Samuel Symmonds.

Joe is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Mark (Jill); his grandchildren, Caty McPhillips (John), Ben Symmonds (Niamh), Sarah Symmonds, and Naomi Symmonds; his sister, Judith Symmonds-Hayden (Ken); his brothers, Jeffrey Symmonds (Pat) and Jonathan Symmonds (Teresa); many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, extended family members — and his loyal little companion, Ritzy Rose.

Care and cremation are being accorded by Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home of Peoria. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations made in memory of Joe to St. Jude, www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.
