Joyce Evonne Smith

Joyce Evonne "Mouse" Smith, 79, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Snyder Village where she was lovingly cared for. Born in Peoria, on May 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Royce and Gertrude (Clapp) Kupferschmid. On June 13, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, Steven Smith. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Mark) Whitby and Lisa Macri (Luis) Contreras; two granddaughters, Savanna Macri and Sadie Engelmann; a great-granddaughter, Freya; two sisters-in-law, Paula Smith and Mary Schierer; a niece and nephews; and her cat, Belle. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Pittenger.

Joyce was employed as an LPN with OSF for many years and retired in 2010. She was a caregiver by nature and loved spending time with her family and their pets. Despite battling Parkinson's Disease for over 15 years, she managed to make beautiful paintings. Her kind smile will be sorely missed.

Visitation will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
