Kay welcomed me into Ecu keys.  We sang together for several years.  She always had a kind word to say and encouraging words.  She will be missed.  Are prayers for peace and comfort are with the family.

Oh, such good memories I have of Kay!  We worked together at JoAnn  Fabrics.  What a lovely lady….always sharing  about her family… what love she had for all of you!  
And then… years later,  I met many of you- the wonderful people that she had told me about and she was so right- a beautiful, loving family that she was so proud of!

To my "Second Mom" and her Family:
The very first time I met Jay, Kay, and the Sharp girls, I knew I had made the right choice for a wife and in-laws, even though the hugging and kissing when I walked in the door, was overwhelming for me (Thank you Jay, Daren, and Dion for not having that same greeting when I met you!). Kay was probably the most accepting, loving, and nosey person I had ever met. She wanted to know everything about me and there were no boundaries for getting information! Through the years I realized that she did not know a stranger and would talk to them for hours if she had the chance. I often had former students or their parents tell me they had met my "Mother"(not knowing she was my Mother-in-law) and then proceed to tell me all kinds of personal information about myself, Dawn, and the kids!lol Although she had some traits(like being late) that drove me crazy, her faults were far outweighed by her kindness, unconditional love, and acceptance she showed for my family. Her attendance at "almost every event" in her Grandchildren's lives was evidence of the pride and love she had for them- in her eyes they were the greatest and they could do no wrong. SECOND MOM-you will be missed and forever remembered and loved!

My mom was an amazing person with a kind word for everyone she met.  She never met a stranger or didn't have something to say to them.  I admired that about her and aspire to be kind and thoughtful to those I meet also. Mom always made time for family and made sure they knew they were loved with tight hugs and kisses.  My family and extended family were so blessed to have her as an example of how you try to live life to its fullest appreciating what you have been given. My children's lives will be filled with memories of their grandparents always making sure they attended all of their activities and were part of the important events in their lives.  Mom, you will be missed terribly.  Thankfully I am extremely fortunate I will have so many wonderful memories to hold on to! Your loving daughter, Dawn

My Mom, was the best baker and taught me to bake at a young age. She also sang her gospel songs around the house, practicing for her singing group. She would have bridge night and we would always sneak up stairs just to say hi but it was really to have the snacks off the bridge tables.   Memories of her flickering the porch light when we were on dates telling us it was time to come in. (Curfew meant in the house not in the driveway.) Vacuuming and cleaning at all times of night.  Waiting for an hour or 2 for her to pick us up from a practice mainly because she was running the other 4 of us around or she was on the house phone, because back then there were no cell phones. Thank goodness I worked up the street from where we lived so I could walk home if need be. Time wasn't her forte, but it was her. She always gave others the time of a conversation. This is what my mom's gift was. She had the gift of singing but her real gift from the Lord was having a conversation with whom ever.  She never knew a stranger and if she did by the end of the conversation she had made a connection with them that they knew someone in common.  She had the gift of spreading love and letting people know that she was truly interested in them as a person. I hope that all those whom she touched or spoke too felt Jesus  from her. She truly had the gift to make everyone feel as though they are special.  She could remember everything that others told her and she would ask them about it the next time she saw them. She knew everything, but it was because people were willing to share it with her. They knew she was concerned, thoughtful, understanding and that is exactly why they shared it with her. So time wasn't her forte, it was her gift to others, to be on the phone and listen and talk to them. Mom, you are greatly missed and I hope that I can share Christ love with others as you have . I sang with Ecu-Keys for several years.  Kay was always an inspiration to me.  She started this group and always welcomed new members.  My husband and I send our sincere condolences.

To the Sharp family: I've often wondered how the Sharp family was since your Dad left Retzer, Gerber & Assoc. And now I see the passing of Kay and that makes me sad. I've known all the Sharp's pretty much all my life. Kay was such a nice and kind person. You have my sincerest sympathies!

Kay was a very close friend of our family. My wife, Deanna,  sang with her in a Gospel music group for many years.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Kay was one of the closest friends  of my Mom (Dee Purcell) in high school and it meant the world to have her there at my Mom's funeral.  The Ecukeys were such a significant part of my Mom's life and being able to perform alongside one of her high school pals made it all the  more special.  Kay radiated kindness, peace and love and she will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to the Sharp family.

I was heartbroken when I heard the news. Kay was one of the special people in my life and I will miss her so much even though we have been apart. We sang side by side in Ecukeys for more than 24 years until I moved. She was the glue and talent that kept us singing for so long. Her sweet personality and beautiful voice was a gift to the rest of us in the group that she started. I always thought I would see her again. I know how very much she will be missed by her wonderful family and many, many more including me. She was truly one of God’s Wonderful People to quote our first song together.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy ,love and prayers to the entire Sharp family. I have many beautiful memories of close friendship of Kay and Jay over the years! We went to gospel singing events at Praise Gathering in Indianapolis. We also attended the New Years singing in Atlanta, Ga. Remember gathering with family over July 4th weekends! Most of all I remember Kay’s deep faith and her cute little giggle and laugh! I will miss her phone calls and cheering for a Molina hit with the St. Louis Cardinals. I always enjoyed listening to her sing with ECUKEYS! Her testimony in song and word will be forever missed but the memories live on! Kay say Hi to Macel for me! Macel always cherished your friendship! See you in heaven someday! Gaylord Buss and family.

I was so sorry to hear of Kay’s death. She was and will always be a beautiful lady. I worked with Kay at JoAnn Fabrics in the late 70’s. She was always kind and helpful.  God received a special angel when Kay died. Please know that you are all in my prayers.   Pam Marsh

My deepest condolences to Dawn and the family of Kay Sharp. She was a dear friend of my mother, Betty (BJ) Thetford. They were very involved with EccuKeys, a women’s chorale group. I remember listening to them at many different churches, the Festival of Trees, and many other venues.  She was a wonderful, kind, talented woman who also enjoyed joking around with Ms BJ.
