Leonard Gene Faner

Leonard G. “Len” Faner, age 92, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, January 11, 2021. Leonard was born on May 23, 1928 in Peoria, IL, son of Leonard C. and Fern M. (Lewis) Faner. He married Harriett E. (Vale) Drowns on November 26, 1967 at First United Methodist Church in Peoria, IL. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Harriett of Peoria; three daughters, Kathy Moorhead of Peoria, Diane Faner of Lincoln, Amy Butler of Peoria; and grandson, Andrew Moorhead of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Verna Mae (John) Thomas of Coal Creek, CO, and one daughter, Deborah Jo Faner of Shawnee, KS. Len served in the Army during the Korean War and belonged to American Legion Post 2 in Peoria. For many years, he was a proud member of Teamsters, being most fond of his time employed as a route sales representative for Butternut Bread. Len loved to travel, taking many trips to faraway places and islands with his wife and family. He was an aviation enthusiast, enjoyed woodworking and took pride in a well manicured lawn. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and never missed a Chicago Cubs baseball game. Len was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria, IL. Len will be greatly missed by all. He is with his beloved Debbie and Lilly in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Leonard’s name to: The A.R.K. Humane Society No-Kill Animal Shelter, 477 State Rt. 26, Lacon, IL 61540. Cremation has been accorded. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel of Peoria, IL is in charge of arrangements. A memorial will be held later in the summer.

Worked with Len at Fischer’s Texaco. Len was a helluva guy. Working a shift with him was always a lot of fun. The time just flew by.
That’s been a lot of years ago.
Thanks for the ride Len.
