Lila Aldine Allen

Lila, who was always known as Aldine, was born on November 11, 1932, in Farmington, IL to the late Charles and Mary Ada (Suydam) Allison. She was married to John Robert Jordan (d. 2002), who she had two children with, until they divorced in 1978. Aldine was married to Donald A. Sherman (d. 1996) of East Peoria, IL in 1979 until his passing. She was later married to Albrecht D. Allen of Peoria, IL in 1996. They were married until his passing 2013.

Aldine is survived by her children, John (Monica) Jordan of Diamondhead, MS and Patricia Galler of Simsbury, CT; her stepchildren, John Allen, Steven Allen, and Susan (Howard) Eubanks; 5 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her brother, Larry (Doreen) Allison of San Diego, CA.

She is preceded by her parents; her 3 husbands; her brother, Lyle Allison; her sister, Norma Holzinger; and her son-in-law, Justin Galler.

Aldine was a beautician for nearly 50 years. She worked at various salons in Peoria and managed the beauty shops at St. Joseph’s Home and Buehler Home until her retirement in 1999. Aldine was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Peoria, IL, serving on various committees and boards, focusing on outreach, inclusion, and social justice. She was especially proud of her work with Church Women United.

Aldine embraced life at Buehler Home. She was their youngest living resident and took full advantage of activities, classes, lectures, and volunteer opportunities. She loved to travel, especially cruising and visiting family. She also loved the theater and attended shows at Cornstock Theatre and the Conklin Dinner Theatre regularly.

Cremation rites accorded. Committal will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, IL.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or Buehler Home.

A Celebration of Aldine’s life is scheduled on July 25, 2026, at 11:00 am at First Christian Church located at 6400 University St. in Peoria, IL with a luncheon to follow.
