It is with deep love and sadness that we celebrate the life of a woman who lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Linda L. Fisher, 79 of Peoria, IL passed away June 17, 2026. She was born to William and Lillian Wunderle. She was married to Raymond George Fisher from June 10, 1964 until his death on January 24, 1992. Surviving is her loving partner for the remainder of her life, Frank Hernandez. Her children Raymond (Michelle) Fisher of Trivoli, Holly (Joe) Colby of Bartonville; her sister Deb Stein; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ron; the first love of her life Raymond George Fisher, and her first born daughter, Linda Dawn.
Linda L. found joy in the simple and beautiful moments of life — especially the times she spent with her family and friends. She had a natural curiosity and a passion for experiencing the world around her. She loved photography, sewing, cake decorating, reading, gardening, collecting, learning new things, traveling, and exploring the arts. She found creativity in sewing, crafting, painting, and bringing her imagination to life in everything she did.
One of her greatest gifts was the way she made people feel special. She took the time to create homemade cards for the people in her life, carefully tailoring each one to the individual, filling them with thoughtfulness, kindness, and a piece of her heart. Her creativity was not just a hobby — it was a way she showed love. Macular degeneration tried to sideline her efforts but she continued on with this craft until her last day.
Her interests were endless. She enjoyed cooking, plays, tea parties, and gatherings that brought people together. She cheered on, played and celebrated the excitement of sports, including softball and volleyball, and treasured the memories made through experiences shared with others. She believed life was meant to be lived, celebrated, and appreciated. She was a member of numerous clubs and organizations throughout her life.
She cared about her health and made an effort to take care of herself, eat well, and continue growing. She was a resilient woman who faced difficult seasons in life with strength and determination. Though she endured challenges that could have broken many, she had a special ability to transform those experiences into stories — stories that brought laughter, wisdom, and inspiration to those around her.
She taught the people who loved her the importance of humility, perseverance, kindness, and looking out for yourself while still caring deeply for others. Her strength was quiet but powerful. Her heart was generous. Her presence was unforgettable.
She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, courage, compassion, and love. Her life was a reminder that even through hardships, there is beauty to be found, stories to share, and reasons to keep moving forward.
She was truly an inspiring woman, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Linda last worked for CWTC as the supervisor of the cleaning crew at the 182d Airlift Wing until retirement. Throughout her life, she previously had been a domestic engineer, aggressive home accountant, steadfast gas station co-owner, PTO member, devoted room mother, fierce crossing guard, invested Cub Scout leader, dedicated photo developer, detailed dental assistant, determined title researcher, tireless realtor, dynamic travel agent (She enjoyed this one the most!) and also co-owner at Curves of Bartonville. Just to reiterate, she loved learning new things so change did not scare her.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 12th at the American Legion, 4501 S Airport Rd, Bartonville, IL from 1:00-5:00.
Donations in her name can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
