

She was born January 12, 1925, in Deer Creek, IL., to Daniel and Lena (Auberle) Wiegand. She married Melvin R Getz on Feb. 3, 1952.
Surviving are her six children, Kathy Getz Thompson of Ft Myers, FL., Rod (Jane) Getz of Ft Myers Beach, FL., Karen (Dan) Waibel of Peoria, Rob Getz of Chillicothe, Jeff (Lisa) Getz of East Peoria, IL and Joann Getz of Hanna City, IL. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Blunier and Charlene Schumacher of Eureka IL, one brother Elton (Dietz) Wiegand of Eureka, IL, and 1 sister-in-law, Beth Wiegand of Morton, IL.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin, and her siblings Willis Wiegand, Lois Wiegand, Daniel Wiegand, Robert Wiegand, Norma Hangartner, and Kenneth Wiegand.
She worked as a clerk at the Deer Creek Post Office for 8 years, until she was married. Margaret enjoyed boating, motor homing with friends and spending winter months in Florida with her family. She also enjoyed playing games, cards and doing puzzles. Her greatest joy was raising her six children.
Margaret was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Sheridan Road in Peoria. She loved her Lord and Savior, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home at 2408 W Willow Knolls Dr, Peoria, Il.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25th, at 10 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, 3420 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, at 10:00 a.m. Church Ministers will officiate. Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be in the Peoria Apostolic Cemetery. She is now at peace in the arms of Jesus.
