Margaret Alieen Hankins

Margaret A. Hankins, age 95, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Bickford Memory Care in Peoria. Parents, Harry and Mildred (Hollandsworth) Waddell of Canton IL, welcomed Margaret into their family on May 29, 1926. Through the years family members that preceded Margaret in death are: parents, Harry and Mildred Waddell; brothers, Lawrence Waddell, Ralph Waddell, Maurice Waddell; and sisters, Bette Waddell Lynn, Charlotte Waddell Puskarich. Also, preceding her in death, was Margaret’s partner, of many years, Vernon Gries. Surviving Margaret are sister, Sandra (Steve) Waddell Haas, CA; granddaughter, Angela (Jeffrey) Guppy, Hanna City; cousins, Jackie Weaver, Canton, Diane Quin, Peoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. The nursing certificate Margaret earned in the WWII United States Cadet Nurse Corps provided the foundation for her life’s career. Her nursing career included time with Methodist Hospital and 25 years with Caterpillar (retired 1991). Margaret derived much pleasure from membership in the Methodist Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and traveling. Her funeral service is set for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May11, 2022 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Immediately following the funeral service Margaret will be laid to rest in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Parkview Cemetery. The Visitation, which begins at 1:30 PM, will be a half-hour before the funeral service.
