Marie E. Hernandez

Marie was born on March 28, 1925 in Evansville, IN to Carl and Nettie (Schauss) Krietemeyer. She married George P. Hernandez in Evansville, IN on Feb. 19, 1946. He died on April 8, 2007 in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Carl Krietemeyer of Evansville, IN; three sisters, Irene Krietemeyer, Betty Walker both of Evansville, IN and Mildred Bickel of Louisville, KY and one great granddaughter, Isabel Chatwell of Morton.

Marie is survived by one brother, Fred Krietemeyer of Chillicothe; two daughters, Clarissa (James) Chatwell and Tonya both of Peoria; her grandchildren, Matt and Katie Chatwell and Jennifer and Isaac Eckhardt; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and appreciated their kindnesses to her through the years.

Marie attended Grace Presbyterian Church. She loved the Lord Jesus as her Savior and was known for the many beautiful poems and songs she wrote, the multitude of which gave praise to her Lord.

She worked for Caterpillar Inc., Peoria Health Club and Illinois Bell. She was a homemaker and excellent cook for more than 60 years giving herself to family and volunteering in school and church activities. She did community work for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and Cancer Drives.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with Rev. Kerry Frantz officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

The family would like to thank the staff at Methodist Hospital, Independence Village, and Washington Christian Village for their love and kindness shown to her.
