He was born July 12, 1953 in Scooba, MS to John and Paralee (Hill) Dunnigan. They preceded him in death along with one son, Marshall L. Dunnigan, Jr, two sisters: Willie Lynn Williams, Johnnie Mae Dunnigan, and one brother, John Dunnigan, Jr.
Survivors include, one daughter, Marsha Harris of Fort Worth, TX, one son, Nehemiah “Timothy” Keeton of Houston, TX, one step-son, Lasion March, Sr of Peoria, two step-daughters: Sarah Shipp of Bloomington, Brittany Shipp of Chicago, five grandchildren: Breon Jones, Christopher Wyatt, Brinaysia Tyler, Brian Tyler, Lasion March, Jr., and four great-grandchildren: Brielle Jones, Layanah Wyatt, Kamiya Wyatt, and Armoni March. He is also survived by one sister, Myrtlene (Pastor Joseph) Cherry of Peoria, one brother, Raymond Dunnigan of Peoria, his special friend Donna Shipp of Peoria, and several nieces and nephews.
Marshall was a Peoria Police Officer for 32 years, retiring in 2012. While at the Police Department, he earned the rank of Captain. He was a United States Army veteran.
Marshall was a member of the Masonic’s AF&AM Lodge in Peoria, and the Peoria Elks Lodge. He was on the Board of Directors for the Peoria Housing Authority and Carver Community Center. He enjoyed basketball, traveling, casinos, gardening, and home improvements.
Visitation will be Friday, Sep. 17, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sep. 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with Military Honors.
