

Peoria – Martha Elaine Tieber, 67, of Peoria, IL passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born April 9, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Ed and Hazel (Ade) Alder. She married Francis Charles Tieber on September 7, 1966. Elaine worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Co. where she met her husband. She was a stay at home mom when the children were at home. After they left, she worked at the Cozy Corner Quilt Shop, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Galesburg Sewing Center, and C.W.T.C. in Peoria as a job coach. Elaine had many hobbies. She was an Amateur Radio operator, talking to and making friends around the country and around the world. She was a quilter, embroiderer, and sewer. Elaine enjoyed wood turning, geocaching, traveling, and camping with her husband and friends Ron and Carole Bieber for over thirty years. She also volunteered for the Family Readiness Group with the Army National Guard. Her battle with cancer lasted over three years, although she was limited, she still enjoyed the time with family and friends. Surviving is her husband Francis Charles of Peoria, IL, children; Kenneth (Nancy) Tieber of Chillicothe, IL, Sandy (Marcus) Jennings of Lewiston, ID, and Jason (Maggie) Tieber of Gahanna, OH, grandchildren; Allen and Mathew Jennings and Elizabeth and Maximillian Tieber. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Ryan Jennings. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.
