

She was born November 19, 1935, to John and Marie Heppe. She married James Wilkie, with whom she had four children; and married Walter Inskeep. Both men preceded her in death.
Mary was blessed to have eight siblings. Surviving is Elizabeth Griffin of Morton. Preceding her in death were Audrey Heppe, Doris Chubbuck, Donald Heppe, Edward Heppe, Charles Heppe, Barbara Layman, and Roberta Hinrichs.
Surviving are Mary’s children, Kimberly (Russ) Edborg of Landenberg, PA; Lesa (Rick) Griffin of Bentonville, AR; Karen Williams (Brian) Martin of Bartonville, IL; and Rich (Dawn) Wilkie of Mapleton, IL. Ten grandchildren Kaitlin (Chad) Peters, Christopher Edborg, Anthony (Robyn) Sandifar, Audra Hittle, James Atkins (Kelly Dunn), Karly Marchand, Jessica Williams, Isabella (Jon) Seaman, Alexandra (Nick) Rowell, and Olivia Wilkie. She also had several great-grandchildren.
Mary had a great love for her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Enjoying their times together over the years visiting, playing games, and eating out.
Mary spent many years as an operator for Illinois Bell Telephone Co and worked as a layout artist in advertising at Szolds. She enjoyed volunteering her time over the years as a past president of the Woman’s Auxiliary VFW Post 814, a Girl Scout leader, room mom at school, teaching at St. Anthony’s, and volunteering for the Alzheimer’s Association in Peoria. In her later years she enjoyed writing stories, doing arts and crafts with her grandkids, playing games, doing puzzles, and always doing the crossword puzzle in the newspaper. She wrote “Another Day” which chronicled her journey caring for her husband with Alzheimer’s. Many in similar situations have read “Another Day” and gained insite and help in their own role as caregiver.
Mary called Independence Village home the last ten years. A very special Thanks to the staff, along with the staff of Care Solutions and Comfort Plus, who lovingly cared for Mary. Her family is extremely grateful.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, Peoria Chapter.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 10:00am with the funeral following at 11:00am at Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel, Peoria, IL. Father Charles Klamut of St. Anthony Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
