Mary L. Haney Smith

Peoria - Mary L. Smith, age 81, of Peoria passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.Mary was born on April 30, 1932, in Hanna City to Harold and Mary (Evans) Haney. She married Harry Smith on Sept. 10, 1949. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2008.Mary is survived by her family: her son, Danny Smith of Peoria and his family, Monica (Jesse) Watson of Princeville, Jaecob, Maecyn Kate, Carter and Stella Rae, and Bryon Smith of Peoria; her son, Dennis Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; her son, Dave (Tonia) Smith of Peoria and their family, April (Russ) Pattenaude of Marquette Heights, Sierra, Makenzee and Tyler, Dave Smith II of Pekin, Amber Wilson of Peoria and Hailey Wilson; her son, Donnie Smith of Peoria; her daughter, Deborah Smith Ewing of Peoria and her family, Danielle and Kayleigh, both of Peoria; her son, Doug (Dolly) Smith of Concord, N.C., and their family, Ricky (Krystle) McEvers of Concord, N.C., and Trenton and Jaedyn; and her daughter, Diann (Troy) Buckingham of Peoria and their family, Nicholas. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Ksycki of West Peoria; and two brothers, Jack Carrigan of Peoria and Buddy Haney of Elmwood.She was surrounded by family, the yarn that bound us all together. Enveloped in purple, she crocheted warmth for those she loved, tended to all things pretty, was diligent in preparing the garden's bounty, and made everyone's plans reality; her hands were never idle. Holding her close to our hearts and memories, she will be deeply missed and always treasured.Cremation rites and private services for the family will be accorded.
