Mary Elizabeth Wilson, 95, was called home on Monday, February 12, 2018, passing peacefully at her home with family. She was born to Edward Thomas Curtis and Amanda Elizabeth Callahan on April 11, 1922, Chapel Hill, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Forrest High School, Chapel Hill, and married Eugene Taylor Wilson, June 7, 1942.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Tammy Lou Wilson and Barbara Jean Schertz; one grandson, Larry Allen Test, Bellevue; four brothers, Robert, Oscar, Edward, Mark; four sisters, Piney, Vera, Maggie, and Grace. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Test, Bellevue; Terry Lynn Hughes, Peoria Heights; and Michaeleen Wilson, Peoria; two sons, James Taylor Wilson, Halsey, Oregon; and Stephen Curtis Wilson, Groveland; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
A heart survivor, one of her proudest moments was receiving a Phase Three Cardiac Rehabilitation Award for 1500 hours at Proctor Hospital. She lived for, and loved, her classmates. Through her working career she was employed by Proctor Hospital, W. T. Grant, Trefzgers Bakery and Buehler Home.
Mary was an absolute genius in the kitchen - always with a southern flair, using recipes passed down from her Mother. She baked wonderful pies, cakes, cookies and such, for her family, neighbors and friends and always with love and kindness.
Mary had a sharp Tennessee wit, loved to laugh, and dedicated her life to her husband, family, and friends.
The family would like to express their loving appreciation to daughter Terry, her primary caregiver and companion; to Hospice Nurse Cheryl, and everyone associated with UnityPoint Health at Home Hospice Care, Peoria.
