I'm so sorry to hear about Merrill passing. I met Merrill when I was a student at Arts and Science in the Woods in Washburn. I was always taking his class for my major for several years. I learned alot from him about Rocks and fossil. I still have some of the rocks that I found when I was in his class. He will be miss by the whole Sun Foundation Family. I will miss seeing him every year that I go visit the Sun Foundation. Rest in peace My friend Merrill.

I meet Mr. Foster when I was about 8 at ASIW. He was so patient and such a fantastic wealth of knowledge for my inquisitive mind. He always pointed out honeycomb coral fossils to us, and now, whenever I see one, I think of him. He will be greatly missed at ASIW.

So sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathy to the family. We were members of the PAS -Geology section with Dr. Foster. We always enjoyed learning new information he shared with us. In September of 2019, Dr. Foster presented a Fossils program for GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math & Science) at the Morton Public Library. He shared a glimps into his fossil collection with our girls. We will miss Dr. Foster and feel very fortunate to have known him.
