

Michael James Barber, 74 of Peoria Heights, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Farmington Country Manor in Farmington, IL. Born June 2, 1941 in Peoria to George E. and Edith Marie (Sterling) Barber; he married Sandra Bowman on September 15, 1962 and she preceded him in death July 19, 1997. His son, Scott Barber and sister, Joan Gullo also preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughters, Dawn (Melvin) Cropes of Bolingbrook, IL, Karen (Chris) Brown and Jennifer (Anthia) Pollard, both of Peoria; four grandchildren, Jesse Scott Barber, Michael Scott Cropes, Faith Marie Pollard and Cooper James Brown; and his brother, Donald (Louise) Barber of Eureka.Mike worked as a printer at International Paper in Peoria and prior to that had worked at Continental Can. He was an Air Force Veteran. Mike was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing together. He will be remembered as a man who worked hard to make sure his family had what they needed and memories linger of the kindness and generosity which he showed to the world through his random acts of kindness. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be one and a half hours prior to the funeral beginning at 9:30 am. Inurnment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or PAWS.
