Mildred M. McCombs

She was born March 5, 1917 in Fargo, ND to John and Minnie (Semple) Lechleiter. She married Melvin H. McCombs August 1, 1942 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1986 in East Peoria. Her parents, one brother, John Lechleiter and one sister, Gladys Pazdernik also preceded her in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Sharon (Richard) Dwyer of Kickapoo, one son, Phillip McCombs of Cape Coral, FL; three grandchildren, Brad (Colleen) Dwyer of Peoria, Shananne (Joe) Buehler of East Peoria and Raegan Kelly of Kickapoo. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mallory, Madyson, Joshua (Abby), Kelsey, Max, McKenzie, Lakin, and Phelan; one great-great-grandson, Carter, one brother, Donald Lechleiter of Breckenridge, MN and one sister, Edna Onchuck of Wahpeton, ND.

Millie worked as a binder for Fleming and Potter for several years and then as a cook with the East Peoria School District until retiring in 1978. She was a past member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria and a current member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. She was a member of the Caterpillar Retiree’s and several area bowling leagues.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 4 to 6 pm, with a rosary service beginning at 3:30 pm at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. A funeral mass will be at 10:00am on Saturday, January 28, 2012, with visitation half an hour prior to the service at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. Father David Richardson will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
