Mildred “Midge” Morey Parks, 92, of Peoria, died at Hillside Lutheran Village Healthcare on Sunday, March 24, 2013. She was born on December 29, 1920, in Minonk, Illinois, to Nellie Belcher and Floyd E. Morey. She married John H. Parks on October 11, 1942, in Minonk, Illinois. Midge is survived by her husband, John, son John M. Parks, and daughter Rebecca J. (Frank) Bellrose, and brother Col. (Ret.) John B. Morey, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert James Parks.
Midge was the first employee of the University of Illinois Peoria School of Medicine, where she was executive secretary to the Dean. She was a member and past Chapter FQ president of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and was a board member and Treasurer for Wheels O’ Time Museum for 24 years. Midge was a deaconess of First Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Methodist Medical Center Service League, Peoria Regional Museum Society, Peoria Historical Society, Lakeview Museum, and the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services will be attended by family. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in care of arrangements.
