Miriam spent most of her childhood and youth in Iowa. She graduated from Centerville, IA High School, attended Indian Hills Community College - Centerville Campus, and graduated from Utah College of Massage Therapy. She served a mission in Houston, Texas (Spanish Speaking) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After her mission, she moved to Keokuk, Iowa where she met the love of her life, Calvin T Schmid. On May 14, 2005, they were married in the Nauvoo Temple. In their 17 years of marriage, they welcomed five wonderful children and many furry companions.
Miriam was devoted to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. She was a caregiver who loved spending time talking or baking sweets with her children. Her smile, laughter, and service touched the lives of many people. Miriam was a dog lover and successfully convinced Calvin to not only adopt two dogs but also to breed goldendoodles. Each puppy was loved and carefully adopted out to good families, many of whom Miriam remained in contact with.
Miriam was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She volunteered in the Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary, and Young Women’s organizations.
Surviving are her husband, five children, Salix, Dedrick "D.J", Corbin, Zane and Zeniff, all of Edwards; her parents, Edwin and Eunice Johnson of Cedar City, Utah; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ross and Dorris Schmid of Nauvoo; three sisters, Lydia (Bruce) Howard of Cedar City, Utah, Elizabeth Johnson of Altoona, Iowa and Deborah "Debi" Johnson of Sandy, Utah; one brother, Edwin "Teddy" Johnson of Provo, Utah; four brothers-in-law, Justin (Shannon) Schmid of Riverside, Iowa, Travis "Victor" (Priscilla) Schmid of Temecula, California, Ryan (Anna) Schmid of Chillicothe and Kyle Schmid of San Diego, California; two sisters-in-law, Misty Mullins of Nauvoo and Denae (Christopher) Hostetler and several nieces and nephews.
