“Devoted Mother and Caregiver”
Ommie Marie Hines, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31st at 9:50pm at Heddington Oaks in Peoria, IL. Ommie was born on January 21, 1949 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Retha Branscumb and Willie Hines.
Ommie was a graduate of Manual High School in 1967. Ommie was married to John Little Jr., with whom she raised a beautiful daughter Jacqueline. Though their relationship did not last, the pair maintained a good relationship and embraced their new unique, blended families. Ommie worked at Methodist Hospital in the finance department for 30 years. Ommie was an active member of the Church of the Living God Temple #130. Ommie truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; writing a book of poetry about memories and experiences, chatting with friends and family, traveling, and spending time with her daughter and granddaughter. Ommie had a bright and energetic personality and touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.
She is survived by her mother Retha; ex-spouse John; daughter Jacqueline; granddaughter Justice; sisters; Ida (Bob) Walton, Ruth Branscumb, Letha (Felix) Lobdell, Valencia Hunn, Udonda (Darryl) Hightower, Debra (Matthew) Foster,Sonya Hines-Smith, Sharon Hines. brothers; Nathaniel (Janet) Branscumb, Larry (Carla) Hines, Wilton Hines.
Ommie was preceded in death by her Father and four brothers Robert Foster, Richard Branscumb, William Branscumb and William Hines.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 7th, 2019 at the Church of the Living God located at 2815 W Lake Ave, Peoria, IL 61615. Visitation begins at 10:00am and service will follow at 11:00am. Services have been entrusted to Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel.
