Patricia Ellen Bork

PEORIA - Patricia Ellen Bork, age 78, of Mount Airy, N.C., formerly of Peoria, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at 5:15 a.m. in Mount Airy, N.C."Patti," as she liked to be called, was born in South Bend, Ind., on Aug. 28, 1933, to Ben and Bertha Rossin. She attended schools in Chicago and Peoria. She married Norman Bork in Peoria on Aug. 17, 1952. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend to many. Patti is survived by her husband of 59 years; and her four children, Brina Grigg of Rockford, Ill., Betsy (Todd) Harris of Mount Airy, N.C., Marsha Bork of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Michael Bork (Sheryl Cohen) of Peoria, Ill. She was a proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Marty Grigg, Ben Grigg, Sarah Harris, Rachel Harris and Sam Harris. She is also survived by one niece, Cheryl Palmer of Ottawa, Ill.; and one nephew, Brian Bork of Las Vegas, Nev.Patti traveled on many wonderful adventures by land, sea and air with her husband and family, most notably cruising from Peoria to Fort Myers, Fla., aboard the motor yacht "Patricia B." She and Norman lived in Florida for over 10 years. In recent years they went from a water yacht to a land yacht, in which they traveled throughout the U.S. They became full time RVr's in 2005. Patti easily made many new friends in all of her travels, but Peoria was always home. Patti was a volunteer leader with the Girl Scouts. She was a great chef and enjoyed hosting many special events for family and friends. She was a member of Agudas Achim Synagogue and a life member of Hadassah. Patti and Norman were also former members of the Ivy Club in Peoria. The family wants to thank Hospice and Golden Living Center for their wonderful care in Mount Airy, N.C., where she resided since October 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paula Bork Memorial Education Fund at the Jewish Federation of Peoria. Graveside services will be held at Peoria Hebrew Cemetery on Friday, March 30 at 11 a.m. Rabbi Daniel Bogard will officiate. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
