She was born Dec. 11, 1926 in Peoria to Thomas and Corinne (Schweitzer) Miller. She married D. George Burdette on March 20, 1948 in Washington, IL. He passed away June 5, 2019 in Peoria. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Tommy Miller, and one sister, Kay Meyer.
Survivors include two sons: Michael (Debbie) Burdette of Washington, Rick (Marsha) Burdette of Peoria, one daughter, Carla (Larry) Lawrence of Naples, FL, five grandchildren: Jason, Amanda, Eric, Ryan, Phil, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a very kind and loving person and greatly loved by her family and friends.
Phyllis graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1948. She then was a nurse for several local hospitals. She also worked for Visiting Nurses, Crittenton Home in Peoria, helped set up the Zeller Zone Center, and last was a school nurse at Peoria Central High School.
She was a lifelong member of the Forrest Hill United Methodist Church in Peoria. Phyllis was very passionate about her church and faith.
Cremation rites have been accorded with graveside services on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
