Pierre was born on February 2, 1958 in Peoria, IL to Lewis Charles Pickens, Sr. and Josie Mae Coleman.
He worked as an Apartment Manager for several apartment buildings in Milwaukee, WI, eventually retiring after 10 years of service. He also performed many odd jobs to help people within the community. Pierre was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Peoria, IL.
Pierre loved listening to jazz music and loved riding his bike. His family knew him as a kind hearted, loyal person, who was always looking out for other people and would give those in need the shoes off of his feet.
Pierre is survived by his children, Anshawn Coleman of Houston, TX, Jeanean Coleman of Milwaukee, WI, Teresa Kimble of Woodbridge, VA, and Charlotte Coleman of Milwaukee, WI; his grandchildren, Taelor, Elijah, Maddison, Jamaria, Makayla, Taveon, Raniyah, Charlaye, Anya, Skylar, and Orlando; his great grandchildren, Nazir and Truce; his siblings, Kerwin Smith of Peoria, IL, Latisha Smith of Dallas, TX, and Orlando Ray Smith of Peoria, IL; his aunts and uncles, Monroe Moten, Jr., Deanna English, Annette Nunn, Arnold Moten, Leonard Moten, Lewis Moten of Seattle, WZ, Evelyn Moten, Kenneth Moten, Marie Crystal Solola, Phyllis Duplessis of Las Vegas, NV, Linda Butler, and Judy Butler; a host of nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
Pierre is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Charles Pickens, Sr. and Josie Mae Coleman-Smith; his siblings, Eric Smith and Gerise Coleman; his grandparents, Lonnie and Ethel Mae Butler and Monroe and Dorothy Moten; and his aunts and uncles, Henry Butler, Tommy Butler, Lonnie Butler, Jr., Olivia Butler, Henrietta Washington, and Henry (AC) Coleman.
A Memorial Service in honor of Pierre will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00 am with a Visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Lutheran Cemetery, located at 914 S Pleasant St. in Peoria, IL.
