

Randal Braun was born in Moline, Illinois on July 19th, 1939. He grew up on a farm near Roseville, Illinois, the son of Ernest and Alberto Bacon (his Mother).
Randal married Rebecca (Williams) Braun on July 2nd, 1983 who survives him. He is also survived by two sons of a previous marriage, Alan Rae Braun in Pekin and Eric Paul Braun in Bloomington-Normal.
Randal died from complications after fighting health issues over the past 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eugene Bacon, sister Dorothy (Bacon) Reid, sister Janet (Braun) Miller and brother Loren Braun.
Randal received a BS degree in Mathematics and Physical Science Education from the University of Illinois and a MS degree in Mathematics and Physical Science Education from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
Randal served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 2 years attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. Following that, he taught Mathematics and Physical Science for 3 years at Petersburg, Illinois and 3 years at Havana, Illinois. He then worked as a Senior Scientific Computer Programmer for Silas Mason and Mason & Hanger, Inc. in Burlington, Iowa for 6 years. Then worked as the Scientific Programming Manager for WABCO for 5 years. Following that, he spent 20 years as a Materials Manager for the Parts Operations of WABCO/Komatsu and Hyster/Yale Forklifts.
Upon retiring from industry, he did private tutoring for 20 plus years. He tutored hundreds of students in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as well as mathematics ACT and SAT preparation. He was able to help many students to get admission to the colleges of their choice or convert them from a mathematics hater to a mathematics lover.
Randal enjoyed tutoring, photography, traveling with Rebecca to almost all of the 48 continental states and Canada. He did hiking and visited civil war sites with his adored wife, Rebecca. He also volunteered with Illinois Eye Center and SeniorNet. He also enjoyed reading about American and Civil War history.
Randal was a member of the University United Methodist Church in Peoria.
Memorial services will be at 2 pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Internment of his ashes will take place at a later date.
