Ray Joseph Voigt, 83, of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 22, 1936 in Peoria to Donald J and Inez E (Doubet) Voigt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Fred and Don Voigt.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of 40 years and daughters, Stephanie (Keith) Mallow, Lora (Brad) Shull, Andria (Bill) Flora all from Peoria, Gina (Jeff) Saville of Green Valley and a son, Steve (Naomi) Armstrong of Peoria. Grandchildren, Brent and Tiffany Mallow, Billy Flora, Josh (Erika) Shull, Ryan (Jessica) Flora, Joshua (Karla) Armstrong, Justin Armstrong, Blake Shull, and Cody (Samantha) Flora, and 9 great grandchildren, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

Ray graduated Bradley University in 1959; then served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea. After his service, he spent nearly 60 years in the building industry where he was builder, designer and developer of numerous projects throughout the Midwest and southwest. His first and most memorable build was in South Korea in the late 1950’s, where he built the KumKok Orphanage. His pride and joy, however, is the beautiful home he built for his family overlooking the Illinois River.

Ray loved flying his plane, boating, golfing and fishing trips with family and friends. His favorite family pet was always a Boxer. He loved his family, had a hard work ethic, and was always quick with a comeback. His wit, strength, knowledge, and wisdom made him one-of-a-kind.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Peoria Humane Society, Peoria Honor Flight or local VA. You may view Ray’s obituary online at www.davison-fulton.com
